One of the most dangerous defects: a leaf spring that has broken off and is being held in place only by the grip of the other springs. Besides making the truck unstable, the metal piece could fall off, bounce off the pavement, and become a lethal missile.

Without a safety chain, this trailer could separate from the truck and become an out-of-control missile.

This stainless steel cylinder wasn't properly anchored to its trailer. It shifted and came to rest on the tires.

How would you like to be behind one of these trucks, watching as their unsecured loads bounce around?

Get too close to this truck, and you'll get a plank through your windshield.

A broken-off bolt, and a wheel ready to snap off and crash through someone's windshield.

It isn't just commercial trucks. In case he missed a pedestrian on the left....

.... he had a second chance to hit a bicyclist on his right!

A homemade pizza restaurant on wheels. Without brakes, the trailer had nothing to keep it from going out of control.

This trailer was carrying 80,000 pounds. The driver knew the tire was gone, but kept going for 25 miles on Highway 45 before we stopped him.

How would you like to have this loader land on the hood of your car? It's supposed to be chained down.

Remember when six children were killed in Milwaukee after their minivan struck a piece of debris and burst into flames? Here's a chain saw waiting to bounce off and land in the highway in front of you. The gas can is just a bonus.

Gasoline. Tar Furnace. Enough said.
